Independent tests have shown the CM9000 engine to be possibly as much as 100 ELO points stronger than the previous version, all else being equal. 2) The CM8000 engine was tested on holder hardware, and not on the latest configuration, which is much faster, probably adding another 30-70 ELO points. 3) The CM8000 engine was tested with the default settings, which have been shown to be not the optimum settings for tournament time controls, which is what the SSDF tests. I have heard that Johan has been in touch with the SSDF regarding the testing of the CM9000 engine, and it is likely that the engine will be tested with one of these user-created settings that are specifically designed for tournament time controls. It might even be tested outside the CM GUI to help facilitate autotesting, making the SSDF tester's job much easier. I have not had any of these rumors confirmed by Johan, though.... I'm going to take a wild flyer and guess that CM9000's rating on the SSDF, IF it is tested with one of these special settings (quite possibly Kurt Utzinger's SKR personality), then its SSDF rating will be at least 2715, and maybe as high as 2775. jm
