I just got CM 6000 a few days ago. Has anyone noticed any improvement in
playing strength over CM 5000? I have matched 6000 vs 5000 three times so far
at 30 seconds per move. CM 5000 has a win and two draws. Genius 5 has a win
and a draw against CM 6000 under the same time controls. Preliminary
indications are that CM 6000 may not be as strong as 5000.
Also, does anyone know why CM 6000's default setting for maximum search depth
is 20? I take it that means 6000 won't look deeper than 20 ply, no matter how
much time it has to calculate. Who would want that? CM 5000 has no such
restriction. I can't figure out how to raise its search depth, either.
Unless something comes along very soon to change my opinion, I will be forced
to conclude that CM 6000 is just another fake "upgrade" like 5500.
