There were some specific circumstances related to the autoupdate of hugebase that caused a corruption of one of the dB files (present in previous experimental build). I reported this to Convekta, and the problem was fixed. As to the executable, a backup of CA7 used to be created in the CA directory, but I notice that this is no longer done. Maybe they feel the update procedure is sufficiently robust now. I had sent an e-mail to Convekta suggesting that maybe they separate the patch releases into development and stable versions. I do not know if this would help matters or not. But I believe that they are getting some bad press because of it. I think the point that is being ignored in all this is that stuff _is_ getting fixed and new features are being introduced as well, some of which are really useful (autoupdate and DHTML enhancements). We will see how bulletproof the update procedure is - I'm sure there will be negative feedback if it does not work. But I think it is a worthwhile feature in any case, since most CA users do not know how to update the direct tree, hugebase, etc. Don't forget that there are some people that need a feature like this. BTW, the checkbox for executable updates appears on my version... Bob
