Am trying out my newly arrived copy of Junior.. Here are some first impressions on the interface: System: AMD 200 32mega 2mega Video 1) Much faster than the Fritz 5 interface (which was sluggish). No problems in selecting pieces (in Fritz 5 the cursor would start "trembling" with the "Permanent Brain" funtion selected. Neat and fast database. Can select > 4000 games... MUCH faster on my system too. 2) Interesting options for the Junior 5 engine (random play switch & others to select and deselct basic engine features such as king safety, pawn structures etc etc). 3) All windows can be better customized (fonts width and size) 4) Finally and completely fixed the problem with the sparring feature (the latest patch of Fritz still had problems). 5) Smaller popup windows - Do not cover board any more (Very annoying!). Problems: 1) Can't figure out yet how to load Hiarcs 6 engine... According to the manual it's possible (even though it's not 32 bit).. but it gives me an error. There may be a bug there.
