from the help file Selectivity Specifies how deeply Shredder should follow promising lines. The larger the number the deeper the search. But naturally deeper searches also slow down the program. The value –1 means the engine will decide on its own how deep to go in each line. This depends on the nature of the position. perhaps similar for forward pruning
