(can't reply directly to your posting below, due to a software bug (?)) Right... Yace PB.'s normal node rate on this P3/700 computer is ~230 kN/s in the opening, and 300+ with low material, in Fritz. I *guess* the result above is an exceptional case due to time consuming display activity in the ChessProgram8 GUI, when the engine window is "very busy" during these 2 seconds. But usually that's not the case (not so many new mainlines every 0.05 seconds...). In Arena 0.921, the mate is announced even quicker.
