There has been some discussion here, recently, about the Novag product line, so I thought I would chime in.... I have been in constant contact with Novag ever since they told us that the new Star Diamond and Star Sapphire would be available in late 2001. There have been a myriad of excuses and reasons for the delay, but I just received the following email (you will note that there is no mention of the Star Sapphire. That, they told me in earlier communications, needed additional work because it is a new technology for Novag): "Dear Steve, You are no doubt aware of the current unfortunate situation in Hong Kong and China with regard to SARS. As we told you in our last e-mail as a result of this situation we have not been sending our engineers to Southern China. This has resulted in some minor delays to our production schedule, however the pilot production run of the Star Diamond will take place next week. Subject to this passing all our internal QC requirements (we envisage no problem with this) we will be in commercial production beginning the following week. Generally speaking, the SARS scare is damaging Hong Kong quite a bit. Restaurants, shops, cinemas, etc. are all empty and businesses are suffering. I myself had a cold this week and did not go to the office as a precaution. We thank you for your understanding during this difficult and unprecedented period." Steve
