You remember correctly :-( At least with 5-men TBs, it needs a long time. Depending on HT-size or other factors, it could be lucky. Uri explained it - several moves look like draw for a long, and one of it will be choosen, very likely a wrong, when TBs are there. I have thought about this and related problems for a long time.
