Is the opteron good, bad or ugly for computer chess programs? -------- I had the chance to try a computer with 2 opteron processors model 240. I installed the Deep Sjeng program and, in a test position, had a promedy of 1,200,000 nodes per second, the same position in an Athlon XP+ 2400 had a promedy of 700,000 nodes per second. The operating system is Windows server 2003 with 8 gb ram. Hope it will be useful. Regards Abel
