You'll have better luck running DOS programs in ME than in Win98. WinME is
smarter, should always have more resources available than 98, after a clean boot
up. Only a clean boot up will guarantee you the best chances of having maximum
memory resources available.

Naturally, you can't just click on some high number for conventional memory,
even though it's in the Properties==>Memory==>Conventional Memory, dialog box,
and get that amount.

Leave it at 512K, for initial environment, (surprisingly), and a total
environment of 600K.

Under the MSDOS protected mode memory (DPMI), set it for "Auto".

Naturally, check your programs that are starting up automatically with each
boot-up, and remove everything that is not critical. Getting rid of things like
screen savers, "power saving settings", etc., is helpful.

I've run Battle Chess (version unknown, and I don't have Battle Chess
currently), using these ideas.

Good luck,
Dave
