Interesting... thanks for the info.  Sounds like I should hold off, for the
moment at least.

I also have a 2x1533 amd mp, so I could post some analysis involving endgame
tablebase probing.  But I won't get an opportunity to do this until Monday
(28th) due to going on holiday.

Do you perform any database searches using, e.g., ChessBase 8?  I'm wondering if
the faster hard-drive justifies itself in this area?!  And even then, it may be
only for certain types of search?!  I've not got any hard figures, but my belief
is that searches based on an opening key are pretty quick.  But if I search for
a particular pawn structure, it can be a lot slower.

Finally, do you regard the Cheetah as being noisey?  I'd be installing it in a
desktop machine.
