I am in total agreement with you! And I also pay for my software. So the bottom line is really simple to me: If it isnt freeware or a trial version and if I didn't purchase it, then I will not use it. To do otherwise can only be viewed as pirating. I think many accept these pirated "gifts" not because they are bad people, but because many simply do not stop to consider the ramifications of doing so. So I cannot say someone is a thief for accepting a pirated engine. It would only be stealing if you HAD considered the ramifications and chose to do it anyhow. Otherwise I just consider it a harmless error in judgment. Since chess engines are not tangible things that we can hold and see I think the distinction escapes many. Charles
