All versions of Chessmaster are now being created by an internal Ubi Soft
development team in Bucharest, Romania. I have no idea what plans they have for
continuing the series.

The Romanians were the ones who finalized and released the v1.0.2 patch for
CM9000, and they also just finished a PS2 version of Chessmaster (although I
have not seen or read anything about it).
