I received my Shredder 7 package today and installed it after moving several Chessbase folders (Fritz 6 & Fritz 7 stuff) to other folders for 'safety'. I have an AMD 2700XP CPU, with 1GB RAM, using Win2000Pro. I did not register the software yet. I did not download any updates yet. When I run Shredder 7, it seems to have some problems. 1. It shows an error message: Engine: Not enough memory at startup. I remember some CCC messages about 1GB RAM systems having some hash table or startup memory problems. Did those messages discuss Shredder 7, and if so, what is the workaround or solution? 2. It shows the engine (Shredder 7) starting up with 407MB. When I try to set the hash table to something else (lesser), a window stays on the screen that shows: New hash size = 64MB The program then hangs up, with the hash table re-sizing message window always shown (on top of the program panes). I can only halt this by ending the entire program using Windows Task Manager. 3. If I select Infinite Analysis, after starting the program (without changing hash table size), no analysis shows in any pane. Any suggestions on how to best run Shredder 7 on my computer without these problems? [I would re-install, if I knew what to do differently.] Thanks in advance for any help, --Steve
