I downloaded the Shredder 7.04 upgrade from Chessbase (www.chessbase.com). I saved the download in a separate Download folder. When I ran the download file (by clicking on it), it created a folder called Shredder 6 Classic under my Programs\Chessbase\ folder and installed Engine704.exe in it. This did not, however, solve my original Shredder 7 startup & memory problems. 2. BACKGROUND--I normally run Fritz 7 engine (latest update version) under my Fritz 6 GUI (which I liked better than the Fritz 7 GUI), for overnight game analysis. [I do not have Fritz 8, so I do not know how well the Fritz 8 GUI will work for my purposes.] I copied the Shredder 7 engine (.dll & .eng files) from my initial Shredder 7 installation, into the Engine folder that my Fritz 6 GUI accesses, and the initially installed Shredder 7 engine seems to run flawlessly under the Fritz 6 GUI. No memory problems are created when I start Fritz 6 GUI. This is nice, but I guess I want to run the 7.04 engine, instead, under the Fritz 6 GUI. 3. I copied the Engine704.exe file to my Fritz 6 GUI Engines folder, but the Fritz 6 GUI can't see that file to change the engine to Shredder 7.04. What do I need to do to update the Shredder 7 engine to 7.04? 4. I guess I need instruction on how to perform the 7.04 update to the initial Shredder 7 engine. 5. To carry out your advice, do I have to find a Shredder 7 (or Fritz 8) GUI interface upgrade, and download that to update my Shredder 7 supplied GUI, or does the upgrade interface you mention come with the 7.04 Engine upgrade? Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate the help very much, --Steve
