Hi folks, Last time I was here (until this week), Tiger 15, Fritz 8, and Shredder 7 were all very new, and CM9k looked very promising given the right settings. Having read the past weeks' worth of messages, I see now that Shredder 7.04 is probably the strongest, along with certain special settings for CM9k. But I still have a few questions: 1. How good has Chess Tiger 15 turned out to be as compared to version 14 (it seems they're about the same strength from what I've read so far)? 2. In what way(s), if any, has Fritz 8 turned out to be better than the final Fritz 7 (which was VERY strong)? Why would one upgrade? 3. Have the problems (that people complained about here) in Fritz 8's GUI been ironed out? Finally, I've forgotten how to determine which version of an engine one has. Some .eng files have a Version resource, in which case it's easy. But what about the ones that don't? Is there a way to get the engine version from within the GUI?
