Hi Kurt ... Here's a brief follow up/correction: the engine will actually make 1 move out of book. I can see the analysis once I've left book; but after my response to CM's move, the engine is no longer active. I looked in the wb2uci log file, and the last few lines in the logfile are: 17.065: C< bestmove b8d7 17.065: S< new 18.066: S< quit Still working on it :) Brian
