Chris,

If you would consider building your own machine or getting a friend to build one
for you, there are posibilities to save some money.

e.g.

The XP1700+ (DUT3C)&(DLT3C) versions all seem to run at a minimum of 10x200. I
have bought 6 or 7 from different suppliers. A few suppliers will guarentee
versions (if you can get the DLT3C runs at 1.5v runs cooler good for 24x7). Some
people are running these at 2500hmz - I would not recomend this for chess unless
you are willing to spend silly money on cooling (not good value for money imho).

Paired with something like Abit NF7 all adjustements are in the BIOS.

Some decent memory e.g. Twinmos 3200 (winbond) cheap but decent (running at 6222
timings at 200fsb)

You can choose the HD

For chess graphics is not important so you can save some money here.

Just a thought

Shaun
