Still too early to know for sure if this is it, but I think it may be the inittime. In the middle of a game, I tried switching engines to Fritz and then back to CM, and it was taking the parameters (I was only using Strength and Depth)! I quit and reloaded Fritz, tried again, and no luck. However, on the third try of switching engines, it did work. This made me think it wasn't waiting for the parameters. I then added an inittime of 8 to give it more than ample time, and the first two load times it has worked! I have more thorough tests to do, including implementing the text file approach, but this is more progress than I've made in two days! :) But my question is, what init time does it use if not provided? And my machines are reasonably recent, so I wouldn't have thought this would be an issue... -Brian
