Hi Brian, Not a bad idea. It seems there are a few ways people set up the King -- and having just spent a few days diving into it, I understand now the pros and cons of each. The only thing I don't like about the "textfile" approach is the limit of 10 the Chessbase GUI puts on the combo fields. Also, it's a bit harder to tweak the settings. The textfile method is the best, I think, for the high-end settings where you can easily switch between them, but I wanted a way to have more options and tweaking. What I did may be of interest to you: I wanted an easy way to convert Chessmaster personalities to Chessbase Param files. To do it manually means you have to use Crafty, load the personality in CM, and then go through the logfile to parse the settings. I wrote a VB app that parses the crafty log file and dumps all the settings into Chessbase Param files, so I exported all of the CM personalities this way. Granted there are no descriptions/pictures with them to give the computer a more human feel, but the settings are the same. Let me know if you want more info, or to collaborate on this...
