Thanks for providing this. So far, I couldn't get "King in Fritz" methods to
work on my computers. It works now for me with your wb2uci.eng file (maybe it
had to do with that ShowThinkingMove option or whatever).

My suggestion would be, to set

Logfile=false

per default. I'm not 100% sure at the moment, but it looks like the log isn't
deleted automatically between program start but constantly growing, so people
who are not aware of this would have an ever growing file, or create a giant
file during long matches. Maybe that could cause problems, i.e. memory or
performance problems under certain circumstances. So I think it should better be
off by default.

Another idea is, to offer an alternative default setting directly in wb2uci.eng
(while the "real" CM defaults can remain in the param file still), which is
already modified. This could serve as a sample, how to have the preferred
settings in Fritz by default, without having to load a param file after the GUI
start always. Fritz 8 always loads the wb2uci defaults after a new GUI start.

The example of the [EXTRAS] part below has the selectivity set to 12, and the
king safety to 150/150, which are the most important changes of the CM9K default
IMO; rest default (this is my so called "CM9K modified" personality :o).

Your main idea of an exchangeable standard param file format for the CM
personalities is great. - Unfortunately, previous Fritz GUI versions didn't have
that option yet. Engine settings can be saved in Fritz 7, but not in single
param files each, IIRC. But for The King in the Fritz 8 (ChessProgram8) GUI,
that standard will be very useful.

Mike Scheidl
