Subject: Ratings calculator

I've seen on some web sites, "rating calculators", for Fide, British, SSDF,
"elo" Etc. There seems to be a few out there.
I was wondering if it would be possible to create a calulator that would convert
Fide to USCF and other ratings. It wouldn't have to be perfect converions! Just
to get you close, say w/in +/- .025pts. should be close enough.
A calculator that could do numerous functions for ratings! Example would be,
say your computer was rated 2600 at 40/2hr! (avg. 3.0 per. move) what would it
be rated at 30sec. per move. (estimated, say w/in +- 025pts, or so.) should be
ok. Don't you think?
"You don't have to be thinking what speed and ram, etc". The calulator would
only need to know one rating to give a ball park number for the others!
For people that can't beat or be competitive with the lastest programs or even
with their old dedicated computer, all they would have to do is say, "well at 5
seconds a move" i do ok! Hmmmm, wonder what rating it is at 5 sec. per move?
And this calculator could give them and estiment! Just an estiment, thats all.
A calculator that does it all and comes fairly close!
What do you think?
Earl
