When I started working on Gromit (0.7-1.2) I also wanted to do this, but
now I think it was a better idea to release it as freeware. You get much more
feedback if your program is free. However, if you write a really nice windows-
GUI your program would be the first sharewareprogram which has one ;-)
Btw don't try to write the strongest engine - it is a waste of time. Even now
there are more engines than chessplayers using them.

One more thought:
Why don't you make your GUI WinBoard-compatible? There are many users who don't
like the WinBoard GUI very much and there are a lot of engines supporting
the WinBoard-protocol.

Use Gromit 1.2's if you like (and if you don't need resizable pieces).
