Go up one level in this thread
It slows down because Its tring to fill the large Hash Tables. You will burn up Your clock in a Game with big Hashes. On the flip side of the Coin, sevral of My P/cs playing against each other, the one with the larger Hashes seemed to find the better line and won the game.Even P/cs with smaller Processers with larger Hash Tables took the Game to a draw against a P/c with a larger Processor and less Hashes. An exzample would be on one of My smaller P/cs,with 512 mb of Memory, when You start the Program It shows the Hashes at 192 mb.If You optimise It ,It will go to 384 mb.If You set It to "FULL THROTTLE"It will go to 409 mb,with no Book Learning. All these Hashes require alot of time to fill up,however It plays like a "Duck Pucker"(that means like a champ).Another exzample would be different P/c with 1024 mb of memory,(thats 4 x 256 memory sticks),starts up with 384 mb of Hashes. When I optimise It,I get 819 mb of Hash.It also eats up time tring to fill the Tables, but the lines It finds wins alot of close Games against other Programs at home and on line.My next P/c will be a dual and I'm hoping to have at least 3 gigs of memory ,so I don't know how high It will go.In conclusion, higher Hashes take time to fill but the strenght or lines higher Tables is noticable. This applys to all Chessbase Engines that I have (Fritz,Junior,Shredder).Tiger(from Rebel, and NOT under a Chessbase GUI) has a maxium of 192 mb of Hash, and I can't get anymore on any of My P/cs.Shoot Me a E-mail if I can be of futher assistance.>>>>Mike
