But this does not count much and the most important > world chess championship does not run at this time control. > Kurt The point is that shredder does not use it's time in x minutes/999 moves when hiarcs does it(at least 7.32 and I guess that also 8) and it is practically the same as giving the opponent more time. If you want to beat shredder then you need to take advantage of it's weakness and the only big weakness that I know is bad time management of that type of time control. This is also a weakness of most chess engines but there are some engines without this weakness(Hiarcs,Movei are 2 examples). I do not suggest movei because it has other big weaknesses and I am afraid it is going to lose even when shredder is at 1:10 time handicap(I did not test latest version but previous version scored less than 50% against shredder in my tests at 5 minutes/999 moves and I also found that shredder7.04 beated Ruffian1.01 13-11 in my tests with time handicap of 3:1(I used some positions like 1.e4 e5, 1.e4 c5 and palying without book after it and I gave shredder 5 minutes against Ruffian's 15 minutes).
