I don't see a way that shareware can ever work unless there is a way to limit the number of times that a program can be run. Most people if given a choice between paying and not paying will not pay. (This happens all the time, as most people have used lots of shareware programs i.e. pkzip, but how many people actually register it. Fortunately my company has a site liscence.) There are not enough people willing to pay to make shareware profitable unless there is an enforcement mechanism, or unless you are also selling a CD version (which I would rather not do.) I know full well that any mechanism can be defeated, and I have defeated a few myself, but the mechanism just has to be barely good enough to stop the ordinary user. One of my plans was to make the price of the software so low that maybe more people would be willing to register. Since making chess software is not my regular job (making video games is) then maybe I can do that. John Coffey
