Writing a command line program you can focus on the open heart surgery, while writing a Windows program you also have to spend a lot of time worrying about the plastic surgery and cosmetics... From the average user's point of view, graphical interfaces are much easier to use, but the overhead of writing a graphical interface is sometimes too high for the programmer.
