"a blast from the past"

i have to grin when i read that..
the GM was released in 1997
i suppose in today's world where PC chess playing programs are updated on a
weekly if not hourly basis, 5 years would be considered the far distant past
but in the world of dedicated chess computers 5 years is not so long ago

if you want a blast from the past, then i would suggest playing a game against
the Fidelity Septennial
released by Fidelity in 1984 ,to celebrate 7 years of being in buisness(hence
the name )it contained the Prestige Budapest program running at 3 MHz. clock
speed with the CB9 opening book built in

OR perhaps the Novag Robot Adversary
released in 1982 by the same Novag company that makes the Star Diamond
it remains today the only chess playing Robot with a Robotic arm ever released
for sale to the public

now These babies are true "Blast's from the past"
Steve
