It's likely it would have played better without it. Is the draw between fritz5 and Junior your decision? Almost all the pieces were in the board at move 40 and there were no 3 move repetition. I think that you should continue this game. I understand that the game is not interesting because the programs have no plans to do something but I think that you should let the programs to express themselves because I am not sure that it will be a draw.
