What dependence?

If they do bad results they are newer or if they do good results they are newer.

If they do good results then
1)it is better for the programmer to say that they are not newer because it can
encourage sales of the old version.
2)it is better for the programmer to say that they are newer to encourage sales
of the future version.

Conclusion:it is not clear to me what is better based on the results.
