>REBEL 12 runs on all Windows Platforms except Windows XP >http://members.home.nl/matador/chess810.htm Thank you, I have read this page. I was looking for a more detailed answer as to why. Rebel runs on Windows2000. So there obviously is some difference between the virtural machines used to run DOS programs in Win2K and Win XP. According to MS documentation, WinXP actually has better support for DOS programs than 2K, although that's not to say that everything that runs in 2K can run in XP. The application compatibility toolkit can test for more parameters for compatibility mode than are available by right clicking on the executable (which is the most common way you'd adjust compatibility options). I was wondering if anyone has actually tried using the toolkit to investigate further. And, it if it a known fact that no matter how much fritzing you do, you won't get Rebel to run under XP, I'd appreciate knowing what changed between 2K and XP, since this is bound to affect other DOS apps as well.
