Well, that's the problem; who would sponsor such a thing indeed! However, if it did happen, the proofing of a computer programs strength relative to all others would be proved (and disproved), much more quickly, and objectively in front of everyone logging on. As far as computer's sitting Idle on ICC, I didn't really notice that, but then I rarely go there. Perhaps with a dedicated server, there would be a lot more activity. Everyone who designed or wanted to test a chess program would have an immeidiate large testing platform. as even amataurs could just leave their programs running automatically. Of course a software add-on would have to be provided by the companies that make these things - Another way for them to generate more income... Anyway it was just an Idea; If I win a million dollar lottery, I'll underwrite it! mrslug - the inkompetent chess software addict!
