Subject: To Johan de Koning: New CM-ranking at Surak's site and some discussion

Hi,
just to add some more data to CM-personality discussion. Let's face it, after
the new ranking (after ~75.000 games) of my tourney:

http://www.grailmaster.com/misc/chess/comp/compindex.html
(go to Chessmaster-settings).

compared to the new settings, the original settings are way behind!

The King 3.23 (Chessmaster 9000) is only ranked 49 (!) with 98 Elo-points behind
the leaders.
The King 3.12d (Chessmaster 8000) is only ranked 75 (of 83!) with 105 Elo-points
(!) behind the best CM8000-personality.

My data support other's claims that the native The King settings are not only
weaker at long time controls, but also at faster time-controls. I made also some
longer games and in contrast to Kurt's opinion, I found that most of the good
Blitz-settings are also very good (however not always) at long time-control
(e.g. the Grailmaster7).

Interesting to observe is that the best personalities are getting closer
together at the top, indicating that we may have reached a peak performance of
the engine (?) around 40 Elo-points behind Fritz 8.

The Top 5:
Rank / Personality / Elo / # of Games

1 CM9000 Grailmaster7 2714 406
   CM9000 AntiCM 2714 281
   CM9000 M2v.5 2714 186
4 CM9000 Tato2 2695 480
5 CM9000 Sedat 2694 454

Cheers
Axel
