You can choose how the GUI "identifies" from the menu under "Extras/Options, Version". That controls which benchmark values will be calculated, and other lesser important things (like the window bar text). Btw. that question appeared so often in CCC and other message boards... www.chessbase.com should really put that on top of a FAQ page, with a big red button link to it on the front page :-)) It's a bit anti intuitive for people which are no insiders of the ChessBase program components. For example, a Fritz *7* installation would not have been affected by Shredder 7, because this was prior to the new GUI.8 version... Regards, M.Scheidl
