On my Windows 98 system, I created a text file named c:\links.htm similar to the
following:
-----------------------------------------------------------
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML//EN">
<HTML>
<BODY BGCOLOR="#DDDDDD">
<PRE>
PROGRAMMING:
<a href="http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin/"
>http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin/</a>
<a href="http://www.thefreecountry.com"
>http://www.thefreecountry.com</a>
CHESS:
<a href="http://jbell:xxxx@www.talkchess.com/forums/1/"
>http://jbell:xxxx@www.talkchess.com/forums/1/</a> CCC Forum
<a href="http://www.seanet.com/~brucemo/"
>http://www.seanet.com/~brucemo/</a> Bruce Moreland
<a href="ftp://ftp.cis.uab.edu/pub/hyatt/"
>ftp://ftp.cis.uab.edu/pub/hyatt/</a> Dr. Hyatt
MATH:
<a href="http://mathworld.wolfram.com/"
>http://mathworld.wolfram.com</a>
</PRE>
</BODY>
</HTML>
-----------------------------------------------------------
(I hope that came out OK: everything should be in plain text.) I have my
password in place of the xxxx in the CCC Forum line. This file is my homepage,
so it comes up fast when the browser starts, and I can just click on the page
that I want to open. If I want to re-install Windows 98 (which I do often!), I
save the file to a floppy disk so I don't need to re-enter all of my favortie
sites.
