Go up one level in this thread

what i fail to understand is..why enter a postal tournament in the first place
and then cheat with a computer?
whats the point of playing?
if one wins the tournament is the feeling of victory not tarnished by the fact
that it was the computer that made the move at the crucial moment?(when the
player gets "stuck"for a good move)
we see cheating all day long on ICC and all of the other chess servers
i stopped playing rated games on ICC because i found that in over 75% of my
rated games i was being cheated by the other player using a computer and the
player did not have the (c) designation
sadly the incidence of cheating grew worse as i made my way up the rated list
the ratings on ICC and the other servers are totally meaningless for this
reason,so why bother playing rated?

i am sure this is true for correspondence chess as well
if a player feels its perfectly normal and ok to use a computer ,even for the
odd move here or there(and i am sure this odd move is when the game is at its
most crucial monent)then it renders the validty of the postal rating system
totally meaningless so why bother playing rated?

Steve
