Mike,

The End Game DataBase (EGDB) is installed with the program. I cannot remember
if there is an option you must select for that to happen or not. The folder of
compressed tablebases is normally stored in "My Documents\Chessmaster 9000".
Check there to see if the folder EGDB is there. If it is, then they are
installed.

The difference between CM9000 and, say ChessBase programs, is that CM9000 does
not probe the tablebases while it is searching. Rather, it will only use them
when the position actually on the board is also in the tablebases. While some
may quibble that this is less desirable than what other engines do (i.e. when
their search results in a future position that is in the tablebases, use the
tablebases to evaluate that position), the strength of CM9000 is so high anyway
that it doesn't seem to matter that much. Of course the situation could be
improved in the next release (if there will be one). Overall though, my
favorite program for its wide range of features, playing strength, and wide
variety of believable "dumbed down" opponents.
