Unfortunately, not only have bugs been found in the data of the 4th CD - which you are aware of I guess - but recently also in one of the tables which was included on CD 1...3. I cannot find the example currently. If you are interested, I could ask Helmut Conrady of CSS (who may also read this) for the position. As for the CD#4, it wasn't tested the same way like the first 3 CDs, according to an information provided by Ken Thompson himself. My conclusion is, that - unfortunately - I cannot trust the Thompson table's results to 100%. Actually it isn't a big loss for me personally, because I have to admit I didn't understand the concept of DTC very good. Sometimes I had difficulties to interpret the output when it doesn't say "mate in...", i.e. if the Tables mean 37 moves to conversion: Is it *win*, or is it a *draw* after the conversion?? :-)) Also, I don't like that it makes a difference which side goes for the win, to choose the correct table. Confusing... Regards, Mike Scheidl
