I looked at the Makefile, target=FreeBSD, and there is no -p option given
in that section...  The other FreeBSD option using pgcc has a -pipe option
but that has always been in gcc.

Do you have a bogus alias that is adding a -p option when you type "make"
by chance?

ie try "alias make make" and then type "make FreeBSD" to see what happens...
