>What is the main difference between FRC and shuffle chess? >/Peter The castling rules are the main difference. In shuffle chess castling is not possible. In FRC castling can still be done. When castling 'short' the white king moves to g1 and king's rook to f1. On its way to g1 the king may not pass any square that is attacked by the opponent. Similarly, when castling 'long' the king moves to c1. So, when the initial position is Ra1, Kb1, Rc1 castling looks a bit funny. When Kf1 and Rg1 is in the initial position, castling is possible on move 1. Richard.
