Usually (if the option which controls this isn't changed from it's default), the *GUI* accesses the tablebases then, and does the rest. Since you write you have configured TBS. cache, I assume you also have tablebases installed (?). If you have all 3- and 4-piece tables, the position should be no problem at all. I have the Fritz 8 GUI and Shredder 7.SE engine running, and #16 is announced immediatly. (the 7.SE version is between 7 and 7.04 so to speak) In your game, white played the ending correctly until move #55, when the rook should have made a waiting move on the 4th rank... [D]8/8/3K4/1k6/5R2/8/8/8 w - - 0 55 55.Kd5? I checked what happens if the Shredder 7.SE engine would have to play here without any tbs. access, and it finds the #7 very quickly... So I assume, this is really an GUI/tbs. issue, not related to the engine itself. I guess, your tablebase installation is (partially) broken. You should try to check the integrity of the tbs. files, and/or reinstall them. (Considering the move 42...Rxh4 above, also Blacks software cannot be quite ok.) Regards, M.Scheidl
