It was announced on 14th December 2002 that the chessmaster 9000 endgame database has a rare flaw that affected some of the filesets which should be regenerated. In http://fortuna.iasi.rdsnet.ro/ccc/ccc.php?art_id=270685 the list of affected files was listed. I'm guessing the majority of people only have the EDGB set from a full installation of chessmaster 9000, of these the following filesets are affected and should be replaced for the sake of 100% accuracy. KNNK KBKB KBKN KBKP KNKR KNKB KNKN KNKBB KNNKP It takes a short time to generate the four piece tablebases and KNKBB , but KNNKP takes the longest partly because you need to generate some of the dependent sets (strangely the dependent sets like KNNKQ are not included in the default installation) and partly because it is larger. Anyway I did all the work for you and uploaded a file to www.aarontay.per.sg/Winboard/chessmasteredgb.zip to download for those who are too lazy to figure out how to generate them using FEG. It is about 12 megs zipped and all you need to do is to unzip them into the directory where chessmaster installed your EDGB.(Typically My Documents \Chessmaster 9000\EGDB). That is all you need to do. It consists of 32 files. 4 Piece tablebases - 7* 2 * 2 = 28 (includes BTM and WTM, Joo,Jix files for each type, but not the Log,LOF,LOS files because they are not needed) 5 piece tablebases - 2*2 = 4 (only BTM for KBNN and KNNP and respective Joo,Jix files because only BTMs are installed in the original setup.). I hope this helps. If you are on dialup or (even broadband and you like to mess with stuff), it's probably more efficent to generate them on your own.
