"Niveau" is the ply depth.

It is completely useless to edit this value:
* Either the value is ignored if you are using time controls
* or the GUI is going to overwrite it as soon as you select a ply depth level.

"TempsManip" means "operator time".

Again, it is useless to edit this value.

As a general note I would say that it is completely useless to edit anything in
CT.INI. Most values in this file are overwritten by the GUI.

CT.INI does not contain parameters that could increase the engine's strength.
All the engine settings are internal and cannot be changed.

There are some exceptions, and I know people will be delighted with these:

* LargeurFen is the width of the alpha-beta window. Setting it to a lower value
(for example 10) will give some spectacular speedup in some cases. But it will
hurt the program's strength by adding instability to the search. I know, I have
experimented a long time with this parameter.

* SelSafety is a selectivity parameter. Increasing it will make the search more
reliable (less tactical holes), but slower (in term of time to reach a given
depth, not in term NPS). Decreasing it will generate more search errors (holes).
6 is the optimal value in my opinion. I don't think a lower value has the
potential to prove better. Maybe a higher value has.

* NSEW does something special and if people are interested I will say what in a
few days. Meanwhile I would like to know what people think about it.

* The same applies to MoreSel.

* MoreGambit sets the playing style of the engine. Normally this setting is
available from the GUI, but if you are using the ChessBase version the setting
cannot be changed from inside the GUI (it's a GUI bug). So you need to change it
manually by editing the CT.INI file. Here are the values:
-1: default Chess Tiger style, some find it a little passive
0: default Gambit Tiger style: more King attacks
1: Gambit Tiger aggressive style: even more King attacks
2: Gambit Tiger Suicidal style: will do anything to go against your King
My own tests have shown that the values -1, 0 or 1 are interesting. Some people
have found that 1 (Gambit Tiger aggressive) is superior.

In general I would recommend to leave CT.INI alone. The big exception is that if
you are using the ChessBase version of Chess Tiger you MUST edit CT.INI if you
want to change the playing style of the engine!
