Crafty version 17.9 was a very good version. The following were the best in my
estimation:

16.6
16.19
17.04
17.09
17.14
18.10
18.15
19.03

Is previous testing those were the best. Crafty 16.19 was the version that
attained the highest rating ever for the Crafty account on ICC. After that
version Robert changed the book format and some other things and since then it
just hasn't been quite as good at the blitz time controls, but has definately
improved at the longer time controls. At the longer time controls I see it
compete very well with all the commercials on ICC.

The Tiger clones and as of late the Shredder clones are beating it to death in
blitz, but not at the "standard" time controls found on that server. I believe
some of that has to do with the nice hardware it is playing on, and some of it
on the improvements that Robert has made in the code.

I hope this is where Robert is focusing on now, longer time controls. For online
play it would certainly be nice to attain the strength it once had in version
16.19. It was almost unbeatable in blitz time.

I can't wait for 19.04 to come out as it is very tough to beat on ICC currently.
I like the adaptive hash scheme that it has. I think it is going to work out
well for it.

Peter.
