Maybe Windows experts can crosscheck if this is correct. Mike, you are correct. This did not happen until I bought another hard drive and installed Shredder to D:\My Documents .......... instead of the default C:\drive. What irks me is that there is no warning of possible conflicts until the program is installed in a non-default location and a second hard drive purchased in an attempt to dedicate it to Chessbase alone. And I thought I was being the prudent computer user that I am. I can't be alone doing this, can I? Most, but not all, of these problems were evident with a default installation. Now there are other conflicts with other than a default installation. > >I have WinME too and non-default installation paths, but I've disabled that >recovery option in the Windows system settings. Your engines will all still load fine. Are the support updates available on Playchess.com server different than the ones available at www.chessbase.com?
