the gui that was published with f8 last november and s7 last december (before christmas ) had some bugs which affects systems like yours, because of the way they address memory differently etc. this problem is solved but you cannot run the program 'out-of-the-box.' 3 solutions exist. 1) as another correspondent noted, installing tiger or junior solves the problem-- they both use an April '03 revisedinterface/gui. 2) for less money--- get a copy of cbm magazine on disk number 93-- about 20 bucks, go to the updates folder and install the latest gui patch. 3) for NO money-- without playing the program on your machine- select the option to go to playchess server. create an identity there -- you need to use the serial number of the software in your manual todo this-- then after you are logged in-- peform an on-line update using the help option in the title bar of the playchess on line software. this will work. good luck and have fun. - marc On June 07, 2003 at 03:19:04, John Griffin wrote: >Hi I just got my new system it is a dual Amd 2000+ and the os is Windows Xp >Professional and when I tried to install either Shredder 7 or Fritz 8 after it >is installed and I try to run it I click on the icon but the programs box where >u choose to either play fritz or got to playchess server just pops up for a >second then goes away it wont stay up so I have noway of using the program.
