thanks i had that code but i dumped it when i overhauled hashing but apparently i needed it still. anyway this has been a good process to reunderstand how i do hashing. one question. if beta is 1.1 and you fail high at 1.3 do you store 1.3 or 1.1. obviously if you store 1.3 you'll be more likely to get a cutoff...
