i am beginning to understand your P.O.V., and i must say that i learnt something. you provoke me to think that you enjoy not merely analyzing chess positions, but analyzing computer interpretations therefrom. I have to think more about what you are saying, but my first impression suggests that you are interested in chess analysis in order to discover the 'credibility' of a chess engine based upon what you already understand about a position, instead of say, as an exploratory tool to uncover the position's 'secrets.' i hope this doesn't seem harsh to you, as i mean it as a question.( and i am not aspiring to psycho-analyze by using 'enjoy') when i look at analytical tools, I use CA7.1 and Chessbase engines, i see two different approaches, the CA/'max bloch' approach of multi-pass and then the CB time/depth approach. to analyze without an engine, i do like chess academy because it can show me piece routing graphics, force me to reconstruct move sequences and board positions-- the process of doing this is very analytical/cognitive because when i see my mistakes i create a new understanding of chess theory for myself. yet you are talking about a third approach. You may deny that it is stochastic.. i might call it a refined stochastic approach with technique. i am not sure yet. maybe i will try it your way for a while and let you know ;)
