I am not sure what you mean by that statement. The USCF has allowed computer members since the early 1970's at least. Crafty played in a USCF-rated event a couple of years ago and is a "USCF computer member" with a rating of somewhere in the mid 2350's (it played 7 games in one tournament and won them all, but some of the opponents were low rated and only one GM was in the mix). However, _any_ program author can request a Computer Membership from the USCF and participate in USCF events _IF_ the tournament organizer agrees. Any tournament may be declared (NC) (no computers) by the organizer if they choose and we have to abide by that. Crafty played in the Pan Am games a few years ago as it was held at the University of Maryland Baltimore campus where computer chess is (or was) actively being researched. >I have no idea how did he get USCF rating so >I tried to get an estimate by the ssdf rating. > > >Uri
