You can simply tell the opponent of this program not to be deterministic. I think that books are not so important. I do not see a program with 2300 elo that can be 2500 against programs only because of better books. books will be more important when the programs will be stronger but now the importance of books is limited. Every good program must know to play without book otherwise you can get it out of book and beat it. The same hold for grandmasters but the book moves that they know is part of their strength. It is good to play without book for improving your program(you can discovers bugs in the evaluation function) but not for tournaments. Uri
